(OOC: Sorry for the late response, I've had a friend living with me and it's been hard to get on lately.) Brendon was relieved that Mattie was joking with him, but at the same time he was slightly embaressed, wondering what made him so nervous about being asked to dinner. It was just a meal. People went out to dinner every day; or else the food industry would go to hell. It wasn't going to be anything extraordinary or even frightening. Just an easy meal with a new friend. Right?
Sure, that made him a little nervous, but only because he couldn't imagine himself sitting at a fancy sit down resteraunt, ordering fancy resteraunt food, and having another conversation with this french boy. Brendon just wasn't that kind of person. In fact, Brendon was beginning to wonder what kind of person he was.
When Mattie refused to let brendon pay, brendon smiled and shrugged his shoulders, actually feeling a tad more relaxed. "Alright, if you say so. But I eat like an animal." he laughed, wishing he was joking. He was skinny as a twig, but Brendon could eat like a horse. All of the time. Having a fast metabolism did do wonders. "This really..." He wasn't even sure of what he was trying to say exactly. "This really means a lot to me. Thank you." Sincerity was the best way to go.

things were going well and although the boy had started out pretty quiet but he seemed to be opening up a bit more now and that was yet another thing that made mattie smile. the boy seemed alright with the idea of having dinner with him so that was one less thing to worry about. mattie wouldn't go out of his way to find out if the boy was in fact attracted to members of his own gender but mattie could see the signs well enough and to ask could be a little awkward for some people if perhaps they were still in denial of it for example. for now, his invitation had been accepted and that was good enough for him, mattie could wait till the dinner to find out more about this boy. "good, I expect nothing less," mattie said with a smirk. at least the boy wasn't anorexic or something. it wouldn't exactly be a fun having a nice meal when the guy sitting across from you was only sipping on a glass of water or poking at dull looking salad with his fork. no, this would be a much better arrangement. mattie wasn't sure how to take what he said. he seemed grateful.. for a date.. It seemed a little odd but then mattie had been like that over a blueberry muffin, so which was worse? he decided then to just smile. "i would have thought that a fine musician such as yourself would get invitations to dinner all the time," he said. brendon was an attractive young man, he should easily be able to get dates.

"Me? Get invitations to dinner?" Brendon couldn't help but to laugh. He could not imagine himself being invited to dinner by anyone. Well, except Mattie, who was nice enough to offer. No one really preferred to hang out with Brendon, unless it was one of his few guy friends, he had a couple of those, and they were all nonchalant and uncaring, not specific enough to notice that he would be staring a little too long in someone's direction, or play with the hem of his shirt when he was nervous. Truthfully, not a lot of people knew him very well. Was Mattie going to change that? He doubted it.
"I guess that's why it's so special. But if you're so quick to invite, I guess you're used to dinner reservations." he joked. Mattie had to be somewhat known, he was sweet, tall, handsome, and looked mighty fine. He probably had a girlfriend of some sort that Brendon wasn't catching on about. That had happened in the past too. (OOC: So sorry about the wait, I've been so busy lately, you have no idea...)

mattie just shrugged and smiled. it seemed like a reasonable assumption to make. the boy was attractive, he seemed nice enough why shouldn't be have been asked out. "I can see why you would think that," mattie said, he did ask him out to dinner pretty quickly in their conversation but then maybe he was just interested. mattie wouldn't go around asking people out just because he could, he did it if he wanted to and although the French teenager usually was more reserved, he was confidant and saw no problems with extending an invitation like that. "usually i'm a bit more reserved but there's something about you," he admitted, blue eyes glancing back at the boy. "maybe it's the way you keep looking at me," he said with a smirk. he definiely like the attention and it wasn't as though he got a lot of that. he got some attention but not too much.

Embaressed, Brendon stayed quiet. He didn't like that he was so attracted to this male. Maybe it was because he just seemed older and mature, not childish and immature like most people were nowadays. He was a gentleman enough to ask him to dinner, and even walk up to him in the middle of a cafe and start talking to him. A perfect stranger. No one had ever been so nice, especially so quickly. Brendon was soaking up the attention like a sponge, chuckling and running a hand through his dark hair. When Mattie mentioned the way he was looking at him, Brendon got even more embaressed. He wasn't completely aware that he had been eyeing him in a certain way, but he guessed as much, and apparently it was obvious. "I'm sorry," he said softly as a soft blush crossed his perfect skin. "I'll try to keep my eyes to myself. It's just hard to look away from someone so interesting."
Good job Brendon, you made your first compliment. Now just keep going. he thought with a small smile, setting his hands down on the table again. "So Mattie, do you have some writing to do? I can leave you be so you can get your playwrite on." Brendon laughed quietly, he was so quiet and sweet.

mattie just smiled, watching the boy. he was definitely attractive, he was what mattie liked, those dark soulful eyes, that dark hair and that great smile. there was nothing here he didn't like so course mattie would ask him to dinner at the very least. he wanted to see this boy again instead of simply having a conversation then walking away empty handed. mattie could tell that the boy was embarrassed with those little nervous gestures and that soft blush, it was a dead giveaway but even without it, mattie was fairly good at reading people but he just thought that brendon was cute with his reaction to getting caught like this. "it's nothing to be sorry about," mattie assured him with another warm smile. "interesting?" mattie said chuckling a little at the guy's choice of words. "well, then i suppose even i can't stop you from looking if you've found something 'interesting' about me," he said with a smirk, just teasing the other guy. mattie just smiled when the boy said he could leave. "usually i would ask you to but the work i was going to do isn't for a class so it doesn't really matter," he said, but what he meant was 'i'm far more interested in talking to you and even flirting a little than typing away on my laptop'.
