jon is that guy that everyone likes just because he's cute and he's nice. he's the farthest thing from a player, and that draws girls to him like moths to a flame. he can easily be identified as "that really cute third year theater guy," and he likes that about himself. he feels comfortable with his dark brown hair at almost any length, and he's got beautiful deep brown eyes that people find it easy to get lost in. generally, he dresses in ways that he feels suit him; jeans, not the skinny kind, and not the kind you wear down around your knees so your boxers hang out, but the normal kind. and lots of t-shirts and sweatshirts.
personality *[/sub]
it was pretty clear from the time that jonathan was born that his older sister, hayley, was the golden child. the one who could do no wrong, because everyone adored her. jon didn't mind; he was friendly, but kind of shy most of the time as a child, and didn't really want to be the center of attention. art was always his element -- he's good at sketching and drawing. also, with a little less of a social life, he usually did a bit better in school than hayley did, and that was where he shone. he liked it there. when his parents died, it changed everything.
he's sensitive, but verbalizing his emotions isn't something that he's very good at. a lot of the time, he has trouble with telling people how he feels, and he gets nervous easily when he's talking to people he doesn't know very well. but despite his brush in his first year here at bouscher with drugs, he's a pretty decent guy, and he's been clean for almost two years now. when jonathan cares about someone, (which is less and less, it seems, these days), he shows it.
lately, though, he's started to remove himself emotionally, trying not to attach himself too much to anybody, in case they die like everyone else has. jon has always been sort of dependent and a bit of a loner, and now he often finds himself feeling like there's nowhere he can go, nobody he can talk to.

into the past *[/sub][/i]
jonathan has lived on ehu island all his life; his parents owned a book store, and he grew up loving books; he would sit there for ages, reading books in the shop underneath the family's loft, amazed by the ways that the stories could transport him to places he'd never been. his sister, hayley, was always the one that people paid more attention to -- a year older, and pretty, and adorable, and an amazing dancer. so why would anyone take any notice of little jonathan?
not that it bothered him or anything. he had no issues with wanting attention or anything of the sort. from the time that he was a toddler, jon was the quiet one, content to sit there and read or draw. he was good at drawing, and people started to notice this as he got a little older; and he also developed a pretty good talent for acting.
when he was almost sixteen, though, everything changed -- he and his sister were home alone, and their parents had gone out for dinner and a movie, as they did most friday nights. jonathan still remembers that he was lying across his bed, reading the seventh harry potter book for the millionth time, when the first clap of thunder sounded outside. the rain began to pour down, the thunder rolling loudly in the clouds, with the occasional fork of lightning splitting the sky in two...
he still hates thunder, and lightning, and even just rain scares him sometimes. he's taken to not driving anywhere, because why would he want to be trapped in a moving box on wheels if it started to rain, if the car slid on the wet roads like his parents' did, if it slid right off the road and into the river --
barely any of the rest of the family was even still alive, and that was really the reason that jonathan and hayley ended up with stacey. she's their mother's sister, sixteen full years younger than sarah was, and while she isn't exactly ideal parenting material -- more the fun, cool aunt than anything else -- she's better than an orphanage or a foster home. stacey remains as more of a friend to both of them, and struggles with "parenting" in any way, shape or form; up until three years ago, she could barely keep the fish that lived in a bowl on her bathroom counter alive. and now she's supposed to be a parent.
jonathan and hayley moved three blocks away from their loft above the book store to live with their aunt, and someone else took over the shop and lives in that loft now, and jonathan can't even look at it properly when he walks past it now. it hurts to look at the place that his parents put so much work into, only to slide into the river...
hayley and stacey even let jon have a free pass over the summer as he struggled to cope with his parents' deaths, but then he was going to bouscher for his first year, majoring in art and minoring in theater, and he had to smarten up. it took a while to get clean, but he had his sister -- always the good person -- to help him, to give him a kick in the ass when he needed it, and he was clean by the end of the year.
only he had met allie, and fell in love. two short weeks of spring break in his first year to fall for her, and then she left, back to new york, promising to come back in the summer to see him. that never happened. the two of them kept in touch until he got a letter with different writing on the envelope -- her mother's, he discovered after opening it with a pounding heart. a car accident. why not? the world is a cruel place.
jonathan resolved to never sit in a car again. the scary machines had already taken his parents, and now allie, too? it took a while for him to become even the slightest bit normal again after that. now he's in his third year at bouscher and he's fighting not to let anyone in.
