William was born in Cannes, France to a pair of happy-go-lucky couch surfers, Gwen and Anthony Dupont. Gwen was already four months into her pregnancy before realizing that something might be amiss. They decided to settle down in the city that they were currently visiting, deeming it fate and renting a small apartment above a grocer’s. The first fourteen years of William’s life were tricking tourists out of pocket change and frequenting the local cafes. One afternoon out of boredom, he began sketching an old man who had caught his eye. His grey moustache covered the entire expanse of his upper lip, curling just at the corners of his mouth. Thus a hobby was born, every evening after that, he would go to the same café and sketch whoever happened to catch his eye. Before leaving, he’d drop the sketch on the person’s table and scamper on home.
A few months before he moved to New York, he hit a growth spurt; developing from a chubby boy to a lean teenager, looking years older than he truly was. The Injustice of this was not lost on the young man, losing a country full of romantic young women all hoping to meet the great love of their lives just as he blossomed. Adjusting to living in New York wasn’t difficult; he quickly befriended the upperclassmen at his high school and began hanging out at the university campus. He used his new leaner, and older, looking face to win friends in the upper classes and popularity.
He began to frequent museums and discovered his love of sculpture. Convincing his parents to give him a weekly allowance to “express himself” and enrolled himself in a sculpting class. Shortly into the class, he realized that he’d have to go to an actual school for the arts. Not just the weekly NYU class, if he ever wanted to get anywhere in the art world. His parents agreed wholeheartedly, seeing an opportunity to travel without leaving their precious son alone in the city. William enrolled at an art school in New York, making residence in the dorms.
For his first years at school, William embodied the role of tortured artist well, crafting somber sculptures and drawing charcoal sketches of shadows.Summer finally dragged along and on a visit home to Cannes, he met a young lady named Eula, a free spirited dancer from Ehu Island. And, after a whirlwind summer romance they deemed it a requirement that he move to Bouscher. His dark artistic style continued on at first, though eventually, the island had its way with him and he took up pop art; using neon colors and exaggerated features to express his inner spirit.
Even throughout the move, his favorite mode of artistic expression continued to be sketching friends and strangers with his pencil and sketch pad, letting his simple personality and artistic style shine through.
