a good book. it seemed to be an object commonly found when mattie had nothing major to do with his course. right now, he had just handed in an assignment he had been working on for weeks now and had just afforded himself a free afternoon to do with as he saw fit and the tree house seemed like the place to be.
mattie had been so busy lately that he hadn't even managed to walk through a park and just enjoy the cool breeze and the sounds of the birds etc. it was something he liked to do every now and then, just to keep himself grounded instead of being swept away in this crazy world. it sounded silly but it worked for the french teenager.
arriving at the bridge, mattie grabbed hold of the rope and walked along it. the tree house was often hard to get to but it was always worth it in the end. it was nice up here and the atmosphere seemed to exude a sense of calm that he enjoyed.
hearing the creeks and feeling the movements of the bridge never really bothered mattie too much. he was concerned that it might finally give in one day and he was fall to the ground but it was something he didn't give too much thought it. mattie was the sort that believe things had a reason and if not then you give it one. should he fall and surely something else would come from that, maybe the experience would change him if he lived through it. either way, he wouldn't let events bring him down too much. life was just to be lived, breathed and experienced, why worry too much about the things you couldn't control?
walking up to the entrance, he stood there for a moment, brushing off a few dead leaves with his foot and watching them fall to the ground below. the dead leaves, piled up so quickly and easily here but it added to the look and feel of the place. mattie found something here that he couldn't find anywhere else. placing his messenger bag down on the floor, he leaned his forearms up against the ledge and looked out at the forest. it was nice up here. the view was amazing and the sounds were therapeutic. he couldn't see how anyone could come to dislike it.
