relationship history.when other boys hit puberty and started asking girls out, sebastian was holed up in his room reading edgar allan poe's works or other literature. it wasn't that he didn't find girls pretty, it was that he never found one that interested him enough for him to ask out. there were a lot of one-sided crushes who wanted a piece of him, but his aloof demeanor kept girls away. he was attending a private school in new york when he met her - susan rowan, the fiery flamed hair twenty year old who perused him endlessly. he was seventeen, and she was unlike anyone he'd met before - she was interesting. they had a brief affair, and though he never expressed feelings for her - he didn't have any - she seemed to take it for granted that he did, and when she proposed to him the night he turned eighteen, he accepted. it was an adventure to him, not a commitment, and he knew she didn't expect anything from him either. they spend four months in happy wedded bliss, until her first husband showed up and she left sebastian for him. by the time she came searching for him with divorce papers he'd already left the country for ehu's island.

sebastian was born a wealthy spoilt brat into a neighbourhood of wealthy spoiled brats, and growing up in the upper east side of new york did nothing to cure him of being wealthy, or spoilt. but sebastian was different from the other boys and girls, if his parents were home much more perhaps they would have noticed the eerie interest he seemed to take in all the things out of place and all the things that involved bleeding. his nanny often caught him slitting his finger just to watch the blood run out, and he creeped many a nannys to quit their jobs and find employment elsewhere. his parents thought he was perfect, because he was born with the devereux charm, and once he put his mind to it he could be quite charming, and normal, and irresistable even. he learnt the art of manipulating from a young age, and his parents never figured out that they did exactly what he wanted them to.
he was given a guitar and a teacher on his fifth birthday, and ever since he's been playing music, as he finds the instruments to be vessels through which he can vent out his emotions. he was good at it, too, and by the time he was twelve he could play at least six different types of instruments well. his parents would buy him tickets to concerts which he would then attend with his music teacher, and he found he enjoyed music immensely - love was an unfamiliar word and an emotion he doubted he ever felt, so he could not deduce that he loved music. upon finding out that susan was married, the bitterness he felt at himself for being deceived drove him to enroll in bouscher - he had heard it was a good arts school, and it was far from new york, even though he'd been attending a perfectly good arts school in new york.
